History At the 24.4. 1987 the Genealogical Society of Vestfold Buskerud (Slektshistorielaget Vestfold Buskerud) was founded. At the 1.11. 1989 the Buskerud division was founded and at the 1.2. 1997 the Society was divided in Buskerud Genealogical Society (Slektshistorielag) and Vestfold Vestfold Genealogical Society (Slektshistorelag). Purpose The purpose of Buskerud Genealogical Society (BSHL) is to promote the interest for genealogy. The Society shall be the link between those who are interested in genealogical questions and in the best way possible rationalize the genealogical research. Membership advantages As a member of BSHL you can get help to start a very exciting hobby. Even for those with some experience, there is always something more to learn. With us you can get a lot of useful information. You will meet like-minded with whom you can share you experiences. Most of us have found near or distant relatives among the members. Meetings We have regular meetings, see meetings. Our library At "Gullaug aktivitets og servicesenter" at Nordre Gullaug farm in Lier ourside Drammen we have our library that contains a collection of bygde books and other local historical literature. We have a complete collection of church books from Buskerud on microfilm or -fiche. We have the census of 1900 for Buskerud on paper. All the contents of the library can be used by our members at our meetings or they can loan it home. We also have micro fiche/ film-readers to bring home. Our periodical Together with Vestfold Slektshistorielag we publish our own periodical - Gjallarhorn. Here you will find "easy and heavy" articles about genealogy. You will also find inquiries and other useful thing that may be of interest to genealogists.
