 | GDS is short for Genealogisk DataSentral (=Genealogical DataCentral) |
 | GDS Buskerud was established to transcribe church records |
 | It was established at the initiative of members of Buskerud Slektshistorielag |
 | Today GDS is a foundation |
 | Originally GDS got public money to occupy unemployed to do the
transcription |
 | These money ended in 1996 |
 | The transcription work has now been reorganized. It has been established
transcription groups in each of the municipalities |
 | As of today about 140.000 records have been transcribed, mainly baptized
in the these municipalities: Røyken, Hurum, Lier, Drammen, Eiker and Modum |
 | Beneath the individual municipality you can see the status of what's been
done |
 | When all the records in a church action (for instance baptism) are being
inspected, they will be published at the internet in co-operation with the
Digital Archive |
 | Even though we publish the church records in cooperation with the
Digital Archive, it is GDS alone that is responsible for the transcription |
 | It will also be possible to buy the finished transcriptions or extracts of
them |
