Drammen as a city was established in 1811, when the twin cities Bragernes and
Strømsø/Tangen on either side of the river of Drammen were joined
together to one city.
The parish of Drammen
Bragernes and Strømsø were separated from the parish of Lier by a Royal public
letter in 1723. Five farms under Jarlsberg Verk, Bragernes, were transfered to Sande
26.04.1754, cfr. contract 1737.
Åssiden in Lier was in 1774 in clerical issues transfered to Bragernes. By
Royal resolution
06.03. 1843 Tangen was separated from Skoger and joined together
with Strømsø which now became an own parish. At the same time
Strømsgodset was separated from Strømsø and joined with Skoger.
Skoger and Konnerud were separated from the parish of Sande in the county of Vestfold
in 1752 in accordance with rescript 02.03.1742. Strømsgodset was separated from Skoger
as an own parish by Royal res.

Skoger was a municiapality up till 1.1. 1964, when it was
joined with Drammen. At this site Skoger is placed together with Drammen.
